Sudan Liberation Movement laud meeting with US Special Envoy

The leader of the Sudan Liberation Movement in Darfur and vice president of the Sudan Revolutionary Front (SRF), Abdel Wahid El Nur, described the meeting of last week between the US Special Envoy to Sudan and South Sudan, Ambassador Donald Booth, and the leadership of the SRF as “important and constructive.” According to El Nur the meeting represented the acknowledgement of the SRF by the US government. In an interview with Radio Dabanga, El Nur said that the meeting also indicates that the world considers the SRF being the legitimate alternative for what he called, “the genocidal regime in Khartoum”. El Nur described the Special Envoy as “open-minded and a good listener”. The most important outcomes of the meeting have been “mutual understanding”, a continuation of meetings with the SRF, and the confirmation of the importance of a comprehensive solution, based on a radical change.
