Sudan hit by heavy rains, floods

Torrential rains also caused severe damages to dozens of houses in localities of Shendi, Matamma, Damer, and Berber. In South Kordofan, the El Obeid-Kadugli road was blocked, and the railway bridge in the area of El Hammadi was demolished owing to the heavy rainfalls and the ensuing floods. The Kassala State government is taking measures to protect Kassala town from flooding. Citizens in Khartoum complained about the damage caused by the downpours on Friday. They severely criticised State Governor Abdel Rahman El Khidir for not taking any precautionary measures for the current rainy season.
