‘Sudan continues Syria operations’: Minister

Foreign Affairs Minister Ibrahim Ghandour said that Sudan’s participation in military operations in Syria is possible.

Foreign Affairs Minister Ibrahim Ghandour said that Sudan’s participation in military operations in Syria is possible as long as his country is involved in the alliance to counter terrorism, following a visit by his Saudi counterpart.

Ghandour made his remarks after the Foreign Affairs Minister of Saudi Arabia, Adel El Jubeir, visited Khartoum for about two hours on Monday. He spoke with President Omar Al Bashir and Ghandour.

Ghandour said that, as long as Sudan “is involved in the Arab-Muslim alliance for fighting terrorism”, it will participate in the Saudi-led operations in Syria.

El Jubeir returned after the meeting after he handed the Sudanese President a letter from the Saudi King Suleiman Bin Abdelaziz.

The official Sudanese News Agency (Suna) quoted El Jubeir as saying that the Saudi kingdom considers Sudan a brotherly country and that the two countries have identical views on challenges that face the region. Ghandour reiterated Sudan’s support of “Arab issues in all fields”.
