Sudan army shoots displaced ‘without warning’ in N Darfur camp

A displaced man living in a North Darfur camp was shot dead by a soldier of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF)  “without warning, as he was sitting in front of his shop”, onlookers said. The officer was later arrested. Abdullah Mohamed Abdullah Hamed of camp Kassab near Kutum was killed on the spot on Wednesday as the soldier stationed at the Kutum gate walked by the shop with two colleagues, sources informed Radio Dabanga.Following the incident, other SAF officers arrived to the scene from Kutum and arrested the killer, who is allegedly a member of the Sudanese army.Six months ago, the governor of North Darfur declared a state of emergency in Kutum locality due to continuous outbreaks of violence in the area.
