At least 13 students were injured on Tuesday during an attack by student members of the National Congress Party (NCP), backed by security agents, on the University of Kordofan in El Obeid.

Speaking to Radio Dabanga from El Obeid, capital of North Kordofan, a student reported that the wounded students were transferred to a hospital for treatment.

“NCP students and security agents, riding in four vehicles, stormed the campus on Tuesday morning. They used batons, metal bars, and firearms in the attack,” he said.

He explained that the attack came against the backdrop of the students’ presentation of their candidates’ list for the planned student board election.
