Student slain in Hamidiya camp, Central Darfur

A student of the Zalingei University was shot dead in the Hamidiya camp for the displaced in Central Darfur on Sunday. “Two men dressed in gray suits, carrying Kalashnikovs, shot Abakar Ibrahim Suleiman (27) in the Hamidiya camp,” the coordinator of the Central Darfur camps told Radio Dabanga. Suleiman, a student of the Faculty of Education at Zalingei University, had just returned to the camp to visit his family. Critically wounded, he was transferred to Zalingei hospital, where he died the same day. He was buried on Monday morning in the Hamidiya camp cemetery. The incident was reported to the police. The coordinator accused “parties related to the security forces” of committing the crime, and other crimes against the displaced.
