Stop damaging environment say Adila residents

Citizens of Adila locality in South Darfur yesterday reported that local police forces and authorities have been cutting down large numbers of trees and forests for coal mining. The source said that this has been damaging the land and the environment. The director of the local police force Noreddaum Abdul Wahab Abdul Rahim is accused by Adila residents of exploiting his authority and influence by transporting workers to cut down large areas of trees to prepare coal for trade. The witness told Radio Dabanga he appeals to the local government of South Darfur to intervene and stop forests from being eliminated to protect the environment.
