Stock thieves wound two in Darfur’s Jebel Marra

Witnesses told Radio Dabanga that Yagoub Ishag and Omar Yahya Abdelkarim Saleh taken to El Fasher hospital with gunshot wounds.

The attackers made off with 21 goats and donkeys, residents said.

Robberies

The residents of Um Baru locality in North Darfur complained of the many robberies by gunmen on their property and belongings. The bandits also seize the shelter and food materials the government has provided. One such incident occurred last week.

The Sudan Liberation Movement led by Minni Arko Minawi (SLM-MM) says that it has monitored more than 500 vehicles loaded with military equipment that arrived to El Atron area in North Darfur via the Northern State.

In a press statement, the SLM-MM added that three people were killed by marauding militiamen in the areas of Kamo as the militias moved to Dar Zaghawa, and then entered Sug Goz, Muzbat and Arori.

On Tuesday the Commissioner of Um Baru Locality told reporters that the armed forces embarked on a general sweep campaign to extend the state's prestige in the past three days.

He denied that troops had committed murders in the area, but acknowledged “having some outlaws” without naming any.

He explained that “military intelligence managed to control the outlaws and return the stolen food to the owners”.
