SPLM-N claims victory over govt. convoy in Blue Nile

The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) announced the killing of four government troops in Blue Nile state on Saturday. Last week, a group of SPLM-N Blue Nile sector leaders defected.
SPLM-N spokesman Arno Ngutulu Lodi said in a statement on Sunday that the rebel forces clashed with a convoy of army troops and paramilitaries in the area of Taroud, 50 kilometres east of Bau, on Saturday evening.
They killed four soldiers, captured Sgt. Abdallah Jaafar Magloub and Cpl. Juma Orta Kudu, and seized a large quantity of weapons and ammunitions.
Defection
The Sudan News Agency (Suna) reported last week that a group of SPLM-N Blue Nile sector leaders, led by Brig. Gen. Mohamed Younes, have defected to the ranks of the Sudanese government.
In a statement the SPLM-N said that Younes was already relieved of his position after the movement monitored communications between him and Khartoum for the past two years. They also accused Younes of mismanagement and illegally selling SPLM-N food supplies.
