South Darfur governor announces discovery of copper

The Governor of South Darfur, Abdel Hamid Musa Kasha, announced that a deposit of copper has been discovered in the region and said it belongs to the state of South Darfur. He said there is no room for dispute about it, saying that it would not become another Abyei – a reference to the oil-rich region disputed between North and South Sudan. The announcement came at a news conference held by Kasha in Khartoum on Tuesday. His remark about Abyei came in response to questions from journalists about the revenue use from the pit copper.
