South Darfur calls local judges to Nyala ‘for their safety’

Judicial authorities in South Darfur issued a directive on Saturday, calling the judges of Tullus, Buram, Gereida, and Ed El Fursan localities to withdraw to the state capital of Nyala.
The authorities fear for the judges’ safety, in the wake of the fighting that broke out between the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces and rebels of the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) last week.
Press reports cited South Darfur state government officials, saying that the four judges will continue to perform their functions for the localities from Nyala, until the situation has calmed down.
