Soldiers killed, arms seized in North Darfur ambush

A number of Sudan Armed Forces soldiers were reportedly killed, and their equipment seized, during an ambush by militant tribesmen on a military formation in East Jebel Marra on Monday.

A number of Sudan Armed Forces soldiers were reportedly killed, and their equipment seized, during an ambush by militant tribesmen on a military formation in East Jebel Marra on Monday.

Abbala tribesmen riding motorcycles and camels carried out the ambush, a caller from the area reported.

He said that seven soldiers were killed. Seven others were wounded. They are being treated at El Fasher hospital.

The attackers managed to seize the weapons and ammunition from the military force, the size of which the source was unable to confirm, and fled towards the area of Fallujah, 16 kilometres north of El Malam in East Jebel Marra.
