Soldier murdered in West Darfur
Gunmen killed a member of the Sudanese army in El Geneina, West Darfur, on Sunday. Two of the perpetrators have been arrested.
The father of the dead man told Radio Dabanga that pro-government militiamen ambushed his son, Juma Abdallah Adam Haroun, in the area of Addar, north of El Geneina. They opened fire on him and he died on the spot.
The father added that a team of locals, soldiers, and police traced the perpetrators to the settlement of Omda El Hafiz Tajudin in El Jokaya. They managed to arrest two of the militiamen.
The Governor of West Darfur, Khalil Abdallah Mohamed, announced that the state will take ‘decisive measures’ to fight organised crime and ‘outlaws’ that have caused insecurity, during a meeting with native administration leaders and representatives and the security committee in El Geneina in the beginning of this month.
