SLM-AW claims killing 18 soldiers

Mustafa Tambour, spokesman of the Sudan Liberation Movement led by Abdel Wahid (SLM-AW) announced that 18 soldiers were killed when the group attacked an army convoy in an area west of Kabkabiya, North Darfur. In addition, a number of soldiers were injured and others were captured, including a commanding officer, during clashes that took place on Monday morning, 17 December, according to Tambour. Local witnesses confirmed to Radio Dabanga that clashes took place around the area, as reported by the SLM-AW’s spokesman. On a different event, the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) claims to have captured the army Lieutenant Tahir Ahmed Ibrahim, from White Nile, Tambour announced. He said the detainee was transferred to a JEM prison.   Speaking on behalf of JEM, the spokesman declared that the movement also seized three vehicles mounted with heavy artillery and three dushkas, along with a large amount of fuel.
