The security authorities arrested on Sunday in Zalingei at least four traders and dealers purportedly because of their role in recent violence at a camp for internally displaced people (IDP). According to a source who spoke to Radio Dabanga from Zalingei, the detainees have been taken to the premises of the security service in the east of the city. Additional arrests would be made, he said, adding that the arrests are related to the events that occurred in Hamadiya Camp outside of Zalingei recently. Two rival factions clashed within the camp, reportedly between supporters of the Sudan Liberation Army of Abdel Wahid and the Liberation and Justice Movement of Tijani Sese. The government has expressed concerns about militarization of the IDP camps.
