Seven Sudanese students of CAR refugee camp ‘disappeared’

Seven Sudanese students living at the Bembere refugee camp in the Central African Republic (CAR) have “disappeared” after going to Bangui, the country’s capital, for trainings following an invitation by the government. Bembere refugees said CAR’s government offered nursing and French courses to the students in Bangui so that they could help others at the camp upon their return.They expressed their “surprise” to Radio Dabanga when news about their disappearance broke out. Sources stressed this happened around the same time the Seleka rebel group invaded many places in CAR including some near the capital.“So far we do not have any information about them, we do not know if they are dead or alive”, a Bembere resident was quoted as saying.All of the missing students come from the South Darfur region of Um Dafouk and are aged between 22-35 years old. Their names are: Musa Haroun, Feisal Zakaria, Hassan Arbab, Bakhit Mohamed, Kamal Mohamed, Moses Yagoub, and Hama Abdallah.Refugees are urging human rights agencies to carry out investigations to find out the students’ whereabouts and provide them protection.“Inhumane conditions” Bembere’s residents also told Radio Dabanga about the “tragic and inhumane conditions” the camp has been witnessing due to “an acute shortage of food and medicines”.  The refugees claim to be missing “all kinds of basic commodities” after rebels swept the camp taking with them food, medicines and solar energy devices.
