Seven JEM detainees transferred from Khartoum to Port Sudan prison

The authorities of the Kober Federal Prison in Khartoum North transferred seven detained members of the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) to a prison in Port Sudan on Saturday. In a press statement, the JEM holds the federal prison authorities in general and Kober Prison in particular responsible for the safety of its members, stressing that the rebel movement is capable of “pursuing all those who cause psychological or physical harm to JEM prisoners”. JEM warned of the consequences of harming any of its prisoners in any prison. The rebels who have been transported on 16 November to the Port Sudan prison are El Tom Hamed Tutu, Mohamed Hashim Banki, Osman Rabeh Mursal, Adam Abdelkarim Khareef, Adam Nur Abdelrahman, Lawal Hamdan Hamadein and Mohamed Mansour.A large number of JEM rebels were arrested during their surprise attack on Omdurman, Khartoum’s sister city, in May 2008.
