The spokesman for the Rizeigat Council of Elders, Younes Farah, told Dabanga that the government “did not fulfil its duties in enforcing security in the area”.

“A reconciliation conference between the two tribes is finally planned to take place in Ed Daein, capital of East Darfur, this Friday,” he said. “The blood money demanded by the two tribes for losses in earlier clashes has reached about SDG7 billion ($1,162,540 million).”
