Security services arrest Darfur student prior to exams term

The Sudanese security services arrested a student from Darfur prior to his university’s examinations term on Monday “forcing him to miss them out and fail another year”, sources told Radio Dabanga. Mohamed Osman Moussa, enrolled at the University of Sharjah Nile level four, is also the media secretary of the Darfur Students Association and a human rights activist. Moussa had been previously arrested on 17 December 2012 from inside a bus, also just before his examinations and was not released until after that period. According to sources, the student was detained for a long period of time and was kept in an “unknown location”. The Darfur Bar Association condemned the arrest calling it “unacceptable” and warned this will lead to consequences. They are preparing a “great campaign in solidarity” with Moussa.
