Security arrests displaced people in Kalma and El Geneina

Security authorities arrested a number of displaced people at Kalma camp in South Darfur on Friday. Six were identified as Idris babiker Abduallah, Muhammed Idris Ahmed, El Tahir Adam Abdullah, Omar Salih Ab Bakr, Abdu Salam Ismail Adam and Izzeldin Musa Ahmed. Witneses said they were transferred to a detention centre and fear they may be tortured. They do not yet know the reasons for their arrest. Security in El Geneina also summoned dozens of young displaced people to their HQ for investigations following their announcement that they were supporting the Sudan Revolutionary Front. The 270 young men and women were representatives of the camps in West Darfur and issued a statement last week calling for a united vision and supporting the Front to find a comprehensive, just and lasting solution to the crisis in Darfur. They also called for all those responsible for crimes in Darfur to be brought to justice and to reject president Bashir’s call to mobilise for jihad inthe Nuba Mountains.
