Rizeigat and Misseriya sign another deal

The Misseriya and Rizeigat tribes in Kass town yesterday signed a reconciliation agreement, in a repeat effort by the parties to end the long conflict between them. The deal builds on one in June, which failed to stem the violence in Kass Locality.

The Misseriya and Rizeigat tribes in Kass town yesterday signed a reconciliation agreement, in a repeat effort by the parties to end the long conflict between them. The deal builds on one in June, which failed to stem the violence in Kass Locality.Dr. Ghazi Salah Al Din Adviser to the President of the Republic, and the official charged with the Darfur file, welcomed the agreement. In remarks after the signing ceremony, he described the pact as historic and stressed that the fight for peace begins with education and development in Darfur. The ceremony was also attended by Governor Abdel Hamid Musa Kasha.

For his part, the commissioner of Kass, Ismail Yahia, told Radio Dabanga following the signing of the peace agreement between the Rizeigat and Misseriya that the deal puts an end to all confrontations and the harbouring of criminals. The commisioner said that an committee will be charged with implementing the the peace agreement.
