Rebels say 18 Sudan officers killed in joint offensive

Two Darfur rebel groups in a joint offensive against government forces (SAF) in East Jebel Marra claimed killing 18 officers on Monday and seizing the Dobbo garrison in North Darfur. Mubarak Bakhit Ibrahim, field commander of the Sudan Liberation Movement for Justice (SLMJ of Karbino) said the attack against SAF was in participation with the Sudan Liberation Army of Abdel Wahid (SLA-AW). Ibrahim said the rebel forces seized food, weapons and five Land Cruisers belonging to the SAF besides destroying a Renault truck and a Land Cruiser vehicle. The battle took place at 5:00pm when the rebels attacked the Dobbo garrison, SLMJ commander said, adding the SAF soldiers fled to the nearby villages of Al Malam and Katur.
