Rebels claim control of Amarjadeed garrison, South Darfur

The Liberation and Justice Movement, led by Ali Karbino (LJM-K), claims to have killed 12 Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) troops and militiamen in Amarjadeed, South Darfur. Speaking to Radio Dabanga, the military spokesperson for LJM-K, Mohamed Ahmed Yaqoub said that at about 4pm on Sunday their troops attacked the SAF garrison of Amarjadeed, 5km north of Manawashi near the road connecting North Darfur’s capital El Fasher with Nyala, the capital of South Darfur. Yaqoub reported that they took control of the Amarjadeed garrison, killed 12 SAF troops and militiamen, and seized five vehicles loaded with weapons. Speaking to Radio Dabanga, the military spokesperson for LJM-K, Mohamed Ahmed Yaqoub said that at about 4pm on Sunday their troops attacked the SAF garrison of Amarjadeed, 5km north of Manawashi near the road connecting North Darfur’s capital El Fasher with Nyala, the capital of South Darfur.

Yaqoub reported that they took control of the Amarjadeed garrison, killed 12 SAF troops and militiamen, and seized five vehicles loaded with weapons. Two SAF vehicles were destroyed.

According to the spokesperson, the remaining government forces and militiamen fled to the nearby forests and farmlands, others fled to the town of Manawashi.
