Rebels attack military convoy in North Darfur

Joint rebel forces reportedly killed 17 government troops in an attack on a military convoy in the vicinity of Shangil Tobaya in North Darfur today. Mohamed Ahmed Yagoub, the spokesman for the Liberation Movement for Justice, under command of Taher Hajar (LMJ-TH) told Radio Dabanga that late on Thursday afternoon, joint forces of LMJ-TH, and the Sudan Liberation Movement, led by Minni Minawi (SLM-MM), attacked a military convoy in the area of Jebel Hireiz near Shangil Tobaya. “The convoy, existing of some 40 vehicles was on its way from Nyala, capital of South Darfur to North Darfur’s capital of El Fasher. We killed 17 government troops. The others fled towards Shangil Tobaya. Joint rebel forces reportedly killed 17 government troops in an attack on a military convoy in the vicinity of Shangil Tobaya in North Darfur today.
