Rebel LJM threatens to freeze talks over arrest of camp leaders

The Liberation and Justice Movement threatened to freeze peace talks with the Sudanse government if it continues to put up obstacles and detain leaders of Darfur’s displaced persons. The movement on Friday demanded a meeting in Doha with the head of the United Nations-African Union Mission in Darfur, Professor Ibrahim Gambari, asking for the release of 12 leaders of displaced people whom the government arrested in the three states Darfur. The movement called on the UN peacekeeprs to pressure the government to stop the harassment and the delivery of humanitarian aid. The LJM secretary for external communications, Seif Sharif Neby, said this in an interview with Radio Dabanga. His remarks follow the arrival last week of a delegation of displaced leaders to Doha, the Arabian Gulf city hosting the talks.
