‘Rebel forces take control of Um Saouna in North Darfur’: spokesman

The Darfur joint resistance forces announced that their troops on Sunday afternoon took control of the area of Um Saouna, El Taweisha locality in North Darfur. The spokesman for the joint rebel forces, Adam Saleh Abakar, told Radio Dabanga that their troops entered the area of Um Saouna “without meeting any resistance from mercenaries of the National Congress Party”. Abakar said that the “government militias” left for Ed Daein, the capital of East Darfur, before the rebel troops arrived at the area. “They left behind eight military vehicles loaded with various weapons, military equipment, and large amounts of ammunition. We also seized an arms store and another store with fuel.” He added that they will proceed establishing a local government formed by residents of the area.
