Rebel forces in Darfur call for Kordofan revolt, march on capital
The rebel forces in Darfur described what was happening in South Kordofan as a repetition of the crimes carried out in Darfur: burning, killings, and displacement carried out by the same people who are internationally wanted in The Hague, including South Kordofan governor Ahmed Haroun and those who are with him in ‘the group of genocidaires’ in the National Congress Party (NCP).

The rebel forces in Darfur directed a call to all the ‘marginalized forces’ in Kordofan to unite and march together to Khartoum to remove the regime. Rebels called on the Sudanese army in the field and other forces to stand by their people and to stand by ‘the revolution of the marginalized.’ They also appealed to political parties to support and stand by the revolution.
In the US, the American president Barack Obama urged the government of Sudan to stop its military operations in South Kordofan and called for an immediate cease-fire to end the violence. In a voice message which was aired by the Voice of America network Obama said that the Sudanese government should prevent any escalation of the crisis by stopping its military operations immediately, including the airstrikes and forced displacement and terror operations that are ongoing in South Kordofan. He also confirmed that there is no military solution and said that the people of Sudan have sacrificed with a lot to see their dreams of a better future become achieved and that the time has come for the leaders of Sudan to choose peace.
In Kampala, Abu Al Gasim Imam Al Haj, a leading figure in Abdul Wahid’s Sudan’s Liberation Movement (SLM), promised the regime in Khartoum that it would be toppled after the secession of the south. He said this would open doors for the establishment of a new democratic nation. In an interview with Radio Dabanga, Abu Al Gasim announced that they will work with the team of SPLA Kordofan commander Abdul Aziz Al Hilu to end the regime using all means, including civil disobedience, strikes and military struggle.
