‘Quarter of school children in Sudan’s capital suffer from mental disorders’

A recent study conducted by the Khartoum State School Health Department has revealed that 27 per cent of the school children in the state suffer from mental disorders.
The state Minister of Health, Mamoun Humeida, acknowledged the correctness of the study’s results in a workshop on The Promotion of Mental Health Services in Khartoum State, last week.
The UN World Health Organisation (WHO) Representative, Dr Naima Al Gaseer, emphasised the need to integrate mental health care into the primary health care programme, in order to tackle and reduce mental illness among school children.
