Qatari banking delegation arrives in Darfur
A delegation from Qatar Bank arrived to El Fasher on Tuesday. It included experts who took the opinions of citizens and displaced people on what projects are important to them and on how to establish the Darfur Development Bank.
A delegation from Qatar Bank arrived to El Fasher on Tuesday. It included experts who took the opinions of citizens and displaced people on what projects are important to them and on how to establish the Darfur Development Bank. The Darfur Development Bank came as an initiative from the prince of Qatar, with an estimated capital of one billion US dollars. This visit is part of researching and setting a final date to carry out the projects by June. The general manager of Qatar Bank, Misdaq Taha Elmalik, said in a press statement that 99% of the money for Darfur Development bank has been provided already.
He added that the bank administration belongs to the people of Darfur and that the objective of his visit to the state is to collect information about the crucial needs of the people of Darfur before setting a final policy on how to carry out the lending.
