Police officer rapes 16 year old girl

A police officer abducted a 16 year old girl in Saraf Omra, North Darfur on Sunday September 23. He abducted the girl while threatening her at gunpoint and released her on Monday morning. One of the victim’s relatives told Radio Dabanga that a police officer kidnapped the girl while she was on her way back from the market. The relative added that the policeman raped her and released her on Monday, the morning after her abduction. He explained that the girl’s family reported the incident to the local authorities, after which the accused was identified and arrested. Residents from Saraf Omra expressed their fear that the arrest is merely an attempt to calm the people.
