One killed, two raped in Tawila, North Darfur

One person was killed and two young women raped in Tawila locality, North Darfur, on Monday. “Five militiamen wearing military uniforms assaulted two young women who were tending their farmlands in the area of Martal, west of Khazan Tunjur, on Monday afternoon,” a relative of the victims reported to Radio Dabanga. “When their relative, Omar Yagoub (35), attempted to defend the women, the gunmen shot him in the chest. He died instantly. They then raped the women, of 21 and 18 years old.” The source said that the assailants fled towards the military base in the area. “We reported the killing and the rape to the commander of the base.
