One killed, 5 abducted near El-Fasher

Pro-government militias killed one person and abducted another five in three separate incidents that occurred in areas north and south of El-Fasher, North Darfur, on Thursday, 13 December, a relative of one of the victims told Radio Dabanga.   In the first incident, militiamen stationed around the Abu Delek area shot and killed the citizen Sabun Hagar Siraj, who is the son of a cousin of the El-Fasher commissioner Nasr El Din Bakkal Siraj, a source affirmed. The victim was reportedly shot as he was harvesting his farm in the Shawa area, south of El-Fasher, and his body was transferred to a morgue in El-Fasher. The case has been reported to the police.   Also on Thursday, pro-government militias driving seven Land Cruisers abducted three people as they traveling from El-Fasher to Goz Beina village, south of the state’s capital. He said that three passengers were brought to the militia’s camp in Dugum area, east of Dar-El-Salaam. However, he continued, on the way to their camp the militiamen stopped at Goz Beina, where they assaulted Omda Mahmoud Adam and looted the village. One of the hostages later contacted his relative and said the perpetrators are asking a ransom of four million Sudanese pounds per person, the source pointed out. According to the source the victims are: Ahmed Yaqoub Osman, Taher Timan Arjah, and Yaqoub Adam Osman. Speaking to Radio Dabanga, a resident of Goz Beina complained that after killing, looting, burning houses and expelling people from several villages, now pro-government militias also began kidnapping locals for money, impoverishing the population.   He mentioned that the following villages have been targeted: ​​Abu Delek, Saga Al-Naam and Eid Al-Beida, adding to Radio Dabanga that authorities have been informed about the events. The latest incident occurred at the Dermah area, north of El-Fasher, also on Thursday. An eye-witness said that an armed group driving a vehicle mounted with Dushkas kidnapped two herders who were riding their cart and looted a number of their camels. The perpetrators then reportedly fled to an unknown destination. According to the witness, the victims are: Mohamed Adam Rashid and Ahmed Hagar Mussa.
