Two bandits were killed and two military troops sustained injuries in a clash following a car theft on the El Fasher-Nyala road on Sunday.

Seven militiamen riding on camels robbed a truck in the area south of Abu Zereiga and north of Shangil Tobaya, North Darfur, a passenger of the truck informed Radio Dabanga. Besides passengers, the vehicle carried goods when it was intercepted by the gunmen. After pulling over the truck, the militiamen robbed the passengers' luggage and some goods from the truck.

The Sudanese military located in the area arrived in three vehicles after receiving a phonecall about the incident. Fighting erupted with the bandits, which lasted for about an hour in the Heriz mountains. Two of the thieves were killed and two soldiers were wounded.

The military troops managed to arrest three of the perpetrators, according to the passenger. He did not report whether the stolen goods were returned to the victims.
