Farmers in Fata Borno in North Darfur's Kutum locality went out to demonstrate against a shooting by herdsmen against farmers on Sunday.

A farmer reported that dozens of them marched from the hospital in Kutum to the house of the locality Commissioner and head of the local legislative council, to protest the attack by armed herders on Saturday. Four farmers where shot when the herders entered their cattle onto the farms at Senger.

One of the victims, Jalal Ali Adam, was seriously wounded.

“We demanded the Commissioner to protect us against such attacks and arrest the perpetrators,” the farmer told Radio Dabanga. “The protesters threatened to move from the area in case the authorities are unable to offer protection.”

The authorities have sent a joint police and military force to Fata Borno to contain the situation.
