North Darfur displaced request rethink of food ration policies

The residents of the Zamzam camp for the displaced, near El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur, have demanded from the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) and the World Food Programme (WFP) modify their ration policies so that food can be equally distributed among all the displaced in the camp. A camp resident told Radio Dabanga that in a final report on Monday, the IOM stated that the displaced in the camp number 190,149, while those registered by the WFP for food rations is 117,540. This means that according to the IOM figures, around 68,887 camp residents do not receive any food ration. These people are registered and have been receiving food rations from 2004 to 2010. Yet since 2011, the food rations for these people have stopped. File photo by Albert Gonzalez Farran/Unamid
