‘No military equipment seized in North Darfur’: army spokesman

The Darfur joint rebel forces did not seize military equipment during their attacks on the garrisons of Alliet Jarelnabi and Haskanita in North Darfur on Sunday, according to the spokesman for the Sudan Armed Forces. “There are no army troops in Alliet. The insurgents have not taken any military equipment during their alleged attack on garrisons in North Darfur,” said Sawarmi Khaled Saad in a statement issued on Monday. He said that the rebels in Alliet Jarelnabi had targeted the village market, and set fire to the houses of the Commissioner of Alliet locality, and the police station. Salah Jok, field commander of the joint resistance troops, who took part in the attacks on the garrisons, called the army spokesman “a liar”. ”We seized large numbers of military vehicles, weapons, ammunition, and supplies from both the garrisons of Alliet Jarelnabi and Haskanita. We are still present in the area of Haskanita,” he told Radio Dabanga. File photo Related: Joint rebel forces attack two military garrisons in North Darfur (2 March 2014)
