Nine dead, six wounded as Misseriya and Khazam clash in Central Darfur

Nine people were killed and six others wounded in inter-tribal clashes between Misseriya and Khazam in the town of Deleig in Central Darfur on Wednesday. A relative of one of the dead told Radio Dabanga that the clashes that broke out on Wednesday between the Misseriya and Khazam caused the death of seven Khazam tribesmen and the injury of four others. Two Misseriya were killed and two others wounded. The witness said the clashes led to the closure of shops. Citizens hid inside their homes, others fled into the valleys and forests nearby. The fighting started at 3.45pm and continued until 6pm, when the Sudanese Armed Forces arrived from Garsila and expelled both parties from Deleig. The situation is still tense in the area, the witness noted, because of the presence of large groups of tribesmen near the town. He explained that the clashes started with a row that erupted between the Misseriya and Khazam when they did not agree about an instalment of blood money to be paid to the Khazam.  Slaughtered camelIn Garsila, Wadi Salih locality in Central Darfur, shops closed its doors and citizens fled to their homes when a group of herdsmen attacked the butcher shops at the market.
