A massive fire near Deleig in Central Darfur destroyed more than 60 houses, agricultural crops, and killed a large number of livestock on Tuesday.

The fire broke out in the area of Toja, 14 km northwest of Deleig, at about 12pm, a victim reported to Radio Dabanga. The people did not manage to contain the flames with water and sand, because of heavy winds.

“Apart from the destruction of 62 homes, and several stores with agricultural crops, large numbers of sheep, goats, donkeys, and chicken burned to death.”

He appealed to the Central Darfur authorities to provide assistance to the affected.
