More than 574,000 Sudanese now affected by floods: HAC

The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has prepared an updated infographic to illustrate the number of people affected by extent of the heavy rains and floods that have struck across Sudan during August. Based on figures supplied by the Sudanese Humanitarian Aid Commission (HAC), it reports that an estimated 574,540 people have been affected, showing that the floods have destroyed or damaged more than 110,000 houses in the states affected. It also shows a breakdown of the affected for each state. OCHA highlights that the immediate needs of the affected people include emergency shelter, health and sanitation services.
