More than 30 homes burn in East Darfur’s Abu Karinka

On Tuesday, a massive fire that broke out in Abu Karinka in East Darfur caused extensive damage to homes and shops.
Azrag Hassan Humeida, the head of the East Darfur Youth Commission, told Radio Dabanga that the fire destroyed the entire contents of more than 30 houses and four shops. “The people lost all their belongings, worth thousands of Sudanese pounds.”
He pointed out that strong wind caused the fire to spread “extremely fast”.
The activist appealed to the East Darfur authorities and relief organisations “to intervene as soon as possible and help the affected who are living in the open without any food or shelter”.
