Security forces detained more than 30 students of the University of Bahri on Monday.

A student of the University told Radio Dabanga, that “18 students are being held at El Doroshab North Police Station. The whereabouts of 12 others are unknown so far.”

“The lectures could not be resumed on Tuesday, because of the massive presence of security forces and police in and around the buildings”.

Government forces on Monday raided the Kadaro compound of Bahri University, using batons, metal bars, and tear gas to disperse a political gathering, arranged by the Darfur Students’ Association. A number of students were injured, and dozens were detained.

Another student reported on Tuesday that “a large number of security forces in civilian clothes are still present inside the University premises”. When he went that morning to the University to sit for exams, he was detained for several hours. “I noticed that a number of students are also being held by the security inside the University.”
