Militiamen terrorise North Darfur displaced

Militiamen robbed and intimidated displaced people living in Sabag El Khail camp in Kabkabiya locality. They fired a hail of bullets over the camp on Tuesday.

One of the camp Sheikhs told Radio Dabanga that militiamen on motorcycles entered the western part of Sabag El Khail and robbed the residents. When confronted, the robbers opened fire into the air, causing panic among the camp residents. “Some have fled the camp, including two children who were found again on Wednesday.”

This week, traders in Kabkabiya town were told to pay a militia leader a monthly fee for guarding the market, which they refused to do. Militiamen raided the farmers’ market in the town in July, September, October, and last week. Authorities claim that some of the traders have relations with drug and weapon traders.
