Militiamen hold-up lorry in North Darfur

Militiamen robbed the passengers of a lorry in Saraf Omra locality in North Darfur on Wednesday. A passenger reported to Radio Dabanga that “government-backed militiamen in two Land Cruisers mounted with machine guns” stopped a lorry near Birkat Seira. The lorry was on its way from Kabkabiya to Saraf Omra. The militiamen ordered the passengers to get off, whipping them and beating them with rifle butts. They robbed the passengers of their money, mobile phones and other belongings, and unloaded the merchandise from the lorry. The passenger added that the goods stolen were worth thousands of pounds.
