Militia terrifies North Darfur’s Kabkabiya

The population of Kabkabiya in North Darfur has been living in fear since a large group of militiamen moved into the area five days ago. Fire broke out at the town’s market on Monday evening. A listener reported to Radio Dabanga that on Saturday, a large group of masked militiamen in 85 Land Cruisers arrived at Wadi Jadara, 18km north of Kabkabiya town. He explained that the features of the armed men suggest that they are not Sudanese. The authorities, he noted, are aware of their presence because the militiamen frequent the nearby Sudanese army garrison. They also move freely through the market of Kabkabiya.
