Militants steal about ‘30 cows per day’ in South Darfur

Residents of a South Darfur locality disclosed that pro-government militias have been stealing between 20 and 30 cattle “on a daily basis” in the area.  The latest incident occurred on Sunday in which 150 militants looted 450 cows from a group of locals by the water source of Idd El Naga in Haraza, located west of Katila. Witnesses said the place was crowded at the time of the attack, adding militias fled eastwards with the stolen cattle. They informed the police in about the incident, but officers said they could not “move one kilometer away from Haraza”, sources told Radio Dabanga. Frustrated citizens warned that if authorities do not intervene, they would move to Nyala city.File photo
