Militants injure gold miners in Hashaba

A group of militants, some in military uniforms, reportedly attacked the displaced persons Abkar Adam, Suleiman Ali and Suleiman Adeemo on Thursday, 20 December.Sources told Radio Dabanga that the victims work in the gold mines in the area of Hashaba, Kutum locality in North Darfur. It was reported that the militants severly injured the men, looted 15 gold detectors, a number of mobile phones in addition to work equipment. Mohamed Adam, brother of one of the victims who also works in the gold mines, told Radio Dabanga that an armed group attacked the men on Thursday around noon.The gunmen approached the three men in three Land Cruiser vehicles equipped with Dushka’s and approximately 50 horses and 30 camels. He added that some of the gunmen wore military uniforms. Adam’s brother was injured in his shoulder, while Suleiman Ali was injured in one of his legs and the third victim was wounded in various parts of his body.
