Market raided, passengers robbed in North Darfur

On Monday, a large group of militiamen stormed the market of Tawila, North Darfur, in search of lost camels. On the same day, the passengers of three Toyota vans were robbed of their belongings in the area west of El Fasher, capital of North Darfur. “At about 3 pm, a group of government-backed militiamen in five Land Cruisers, and dozens of others on camels and horses, raided Tawila market. They were searching for 41 camels they had reportedly lost. The people were terrified,” Omda Mukhtar Bosh told Radio Dabanga. He said that army forces intervened, and ordered the raiders to leave the area immediately.
