Man shot dead for not handing over money

Gunmen shot a displaced man dead and seriously injured another in Kass on Thursday. Sources said the men were returning to their camp in South Darfur when militants on motorbikes turned up. They asked the men to hand over money, when the men refused the gunmen shot them. Ibrahim Muhammed Salih died instantly, Dawud Adam Ab Bakr was taken to Nyala hospital for treatment. Residents managed to track down the two gunmen and took them to the local police. A witness said they also went down to the commissioner’s office and held a sit-in to demand the gunmen be punished. The commissioner pledged to bring the militants to justice.
