Man killed, two injured in ambush near West Darfur camp

A displaced man was killed and two others were injured in West Darfur on Thursday in an ambush by pro-government militiamen accused of stealing livestock the victims were trying to recover.On Wednesday, a group of 10 militiamen entered the Armenkul camp and abducted four men and stole 750 sheep and several cows from its residents, a sheikh told Radio Dabanga.The event triggered a group of Armenkul’s residents on Thursday to search for the militants and recover the four men and the livestock.“However, the gunmen ambushed the displaced in the area of Duma, killing Abbakar Azarak Abbakar, and injuring Yahiya Mimad Burma and Abbakar Zurqan,” a sheikh said.Two of the abducted men have been identified as Yahiya Hamid and Wadanal Abbakar Zurqan.The sheikh appealed to the Sirba commissioner and government forces to arrest the perpetrators and return the livestock to the displaced.File photoRelated: Four displaced missing after militia raid on West Darfur camp (22 August 2013)
