Man dies, baby wounded, women beaten in Darfur attacks

A man was reportedly gunned down on Monday evening at his home in Riyadh camp for the displaced at El Geneina, capital of West Darfur. His baby daughter and another adult were injured in the attack. A relative of the deceased told Radio Dabanga that “four gunmen entered the home of Abu Hassan Abdulrahman on Monday evening. He died on the spot from six bullets to his head and his heart.” His four-month-old baby daughter and another person were critically injured in the crossfire. They have been transferred to hospital in El Geneina for treatment. The relative said that Abdulrahman was buried in El Geneina cemetery on Tuesday. Saraf Omra A group of seven women, including four sisters, have reportedly been attacked, beaten, robbed, and threatened on their farm in Saraf Omra locality in North Darfur. A witness told Radio Dabanga that the sisters Fatima, Khadija, Zainab, and Zahra Ahmed, along with three other women, were tending their farms when they were accosted by armed men who beat them with rifle butts before robbing them of money, mobile phones, jewellery, and all of their farming tools. The gunmen then reportedly threatened to kill the women if they returned to the farm, saying that the land has been “liberated”. The witness says that a report has been filed with the police, but they have not reacted yet. Nierteti A member of the Central Reserve Forces (known as Abu Tira), shot during an altercation with pro-government militiamen, has mysteriously disappeared from Nierteti hospital in Central Darfur. Sources suspect he has been abducted. A witness told Radio Dabanga that Yassin Abdullah Mohamed was shot in the leg by militiamen at Nierteti market. “He was transferred to Nierteti hospital under the auspices of the Commissioner of Nierteti, but has not been seen since,” the witness concluded, voicing a suspicion that Mohamed has been abducted.
